On November 3 and 4, 2022 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the “X Seminar of the Network of National Public Investment Systems of Latin America and the Caribbean – SNIP Network” was held, jointly organized by the Board of Directors of the Network. of the National Public Investment Systems (SNIP Network), the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD) of the Dominican Republic, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), through the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

 

The objective of the seminar was to analyze the challenging regional and global context that the countries of the region face to advance inclusive and sustainable growth and the challenges to strengthen national public investment systems, so that quality public investment is executed that responds to the needs of citizens reflected in the objectives of development planning and the 2030 Agenda. It also sought to promote the exchange of knowledge and collaboration between countries to address the challenges posed by public investment as a key instrument for the sustainable development.

 

At the 10th SNIP Network Seminar, held for the first time in person after the Covid-19 pandemic, and more than ten years after the creation of the Network, the challenges to promote quality and resilient public investment were addressed. post-pandemic, the challenges to strengthen the institutionality of the systems to manage public investment and the promotion of resilient and sustainable infrastructure through the SNIP. The meeting also allowed for promoting discussion on how to take advantage of new technologies and develop the necessary capabilities to improve governance in investment management.
