The National Strategic Plan of Barbados 2006–2025 is the country’s long-term development framework, designed to guide national transformation over a twenty-year horizon.
Developed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development, the plan outlines six strategic goals aimed at fostering a prosperous, socially just, and globally competitive society:
- “Inspired, exulting, free” – Strengthening the spiritual and cultural identity of the nation.
- “Firm craftsmen of our fate” – Establishing new governance for new times.
- “Strength and unity” – Building social capital.
- “These fields and hills” – Developing a green economy for sustainable development.
- “Upward and onward” – Enhancing national prosperity and global competitiveness.
- “Strict guardians of our heritage” – Positioning Barbados in the global arena.
Each strategic goal is supported by national objectives, strategies, and indicative targets. The plan also proposes the development of five-year sectoral plans to support implementation and allow for periodic revision.
