Town and Country Planning Act of Barbados

The legislative base for determining planning applications is set out in the Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) in Chapter 240. Planning is also determined by subsidiary legislation to the TCPA. That is the Town and Country Planning Development Order of 1972.

The Town and Country Planning Act defines development as “The carrying out of building, engineering, mining or other operations in, on, over or under any land, the making of any material change in use of any buildings, or other land or the subdivision of land".
